Founding Account Executive
Background
Atlas is a vertically-integrated and tech-enabled medical biller. We believe three things:
- The trend away from independent practice is deeply harmful to our nation’s future
- The main problem is the complex, archaic system stacking the financial deck against small clinics
- Modern software advances give independent practices tools to fight back and win
‘Billing’ is the general healthcare term for everything touching payments. Fixing it means helping doctors make more for each hour they work, giving them the funding to pay employees, grow, and build thriving, independent businesses.
Role
Every practice we sign is a practice that keeps more of what it earns. The Founding Account Executive owns new client growth: finding independent practices that are leaving money on the table, showing them exactly where, and bringing them onto Atlas. This is a quota-carrying, high-ownership role.
The day-to-day job is running the full sales cycle. You will prospect practice owners and office managers, run discovery and revenue assessments, walk prospects through their own billing data, and close. You will work with our operations team to make sure every client you sign has a smooth start, and you will hear directly from those clients how it is going.
You will have our CEO’s daily support and a direct line to our operations and technology teams. As our first sales hire, you will shape our pitch, our pricing conversations, our CRM, and who we hire next onto the sales team.
Qualifications
We are not prescriptive on experience. The people we look for have 2+ years closing deals with small and mid-sized businesses, and have owned a pipeline from first call to signed contract. Experience selling to medical practices (billing, EHR, practice management, or medical devices) is a strong plus.
The common traits for people who succeed at Atlas:
- Unimpeachable personal character (honesty, integrity, compassion)
- High standards of performance. You like (maybe need) to win, and you track your own numbers.
- Optimistic about change. Our product and our market will change every 3-6 months. Our best employees are attached to outcomes, not processes.
- You like the muck. Every employee, founders down, does their share of messy work – including learning how claims, denials, and payer contracts actually work so you can speak to them credibly.
What We Offer You
In return for your trust and commitment, we make commitments back to you:
- Trust and responsibility – expect clear, big goals. We will trust you to tell us how we can accomplish them.
- High rate of learning – you will learn (and take on as much work) as you can handle.
- Transparency and honesty – we will answer every question you have about our business, and you will have access to every resource we have to do your job.
- No hierarchy – nobody gets special privileges. Everyone does what it takes to solve the problems.
- Share of the pie – when the company wins, all our employees benefit.
Process
Our interview process is intensive and quick. You will do an initial screen (15 minutes) with our CEO, a longer interview (30-45 minutes) covering your background and sales career, and then a 24-48 hour take-home assignment / mock sales call that mimics on the job work. To respect your time, all of this will take place in a maximum of 7 days.
References will be conducted alongside the interview process.
